Description The Goldendoodle is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. This breed can be a small or large hybrid with a shaggy and wavy coat. They are intelligent and friendly. | ||
Size A Goldendoodle can be anywhere from 9 pounds to 150 pounds depending on the genetic composition of the cross. | ||
Coat The Goldendoodle's coat is generally shaggy and wavy. The thickness of the coat is also dependent on the DNA structure. | ||
Color The Goldendoodle comes in a variety of colors and markings. | ||
Temperament A Goldendoodle is an intelligent and obedient family companion. Like the Golden Retriever the Goldendoodle is everybody's friend. The Goldendoodle is good with children, other dogs and pets, and are easy going with strangers. | ||
Care The Goldendoodle requires regular maintetance for it's coat. It should be brushed several times a week to prevent matting. General bathing should only occur once a month as over bathing can cause dry skin. | ||
Exercise This breed requires moderate exercise. A long brisk walk or playtime with the ability to run is suggested. | ||
Training The Goldendoodle is easy to train. Use positive reinforcement and be consistant. | ||
Shedding The Goldendoodle has a low shedding coat. | ||
Allergies The Goldendoodle coat is not hypo-allergenic, but may cause less problems then other breeds. This breed can have some food or skin allergies. | ||
Barking & Howling This breed is a moderate barker. | ||
Life Expectancy A well cared Goldendoodle can live 9-15 years. | ||
Health There are no known major health issues with the Goldendoodle. Minor issues consist of skin or ear infections and food allergies. | ||
